Supplemental Executive Retirement Plans (SERP)
A Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan (SERP) is a non-qualified retirement plan under which the employer provides an additional retirement benefit to the employees. SERPs are generally structured to restore lost benefits due to regulatory restrictions on compensation used to calculate pension benefits. A SERP may be characterized as either a non-qualified deferred contribution plan or a non-qualified deferred benefit plan. Often, a SERP is in some fashion tied to the benefits provider under the employers qualified retirement plan.
Deferred Compensation
A Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP) is similar to a 401(k) in that it allows you to defer a portion of your current income on a pre-tax basis. This reduces your current taxable income. Unlike a 401(k) plan, you are not subject to the same limitations. Highly compensated participants are allowed to defer salary, bonuses and commissions into a wide range of choices.
We help companies design, fund, implement and administer deferred plans.
